The Role of the Governing Board
The Governing Board is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education for all of its pupils. Together with the Headteacher, who has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school, they set the school’s aims, policies and ensure there is a clear direction.
The three core strategic functions of Delph Primary School Governing Board are:
- To ensure clarity of vision, values, ethos and strategic direction, including long term and succession planning
- To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent
Being a school governor provides a challenging, interesting and rewarding way of being involved in your child’s school. Free training is provided.
The full Governing Board meets at least once each term and has three sub-committees:
- Resource & Environment
- Curriculum and Standards including Safeguarding
- Pre-School
The sub-committees meet at least once each term. The Terms of Reference for each comittee can be found below.
The term of office for a school governor is four years.
A full list of all of our governors and their areas of responsibility can be viewed in this section. There is also a record of attendance at meetings.
We welcome suggestions, feedback and ideas from parents – please contact our Chair of Governors. Mr Mark Hopkins, via the school office.
